HOW TO HOMEBREW

There's nothing quite so satisfying as brewing your very own ale, beer, cider or wine.

The sense of achievement when you taste your own creation is unique.

Over the last few years, homebrew kits of all types have improved immeasurably, with new techniques and packaging that allow home brewers the ability to make highly authentic brews which have real taste & flavour.

So what is it that makes people hesitate?

Usually it's just one thing - the idea that it's too complicated.

Actually, it's very easy - after all the kit manufacturers have done all the hard work

All you have to do is follow a few simple steps - and here we'll help you!

STEP ONE- PREPARATION

Sterilise everything that will come in contact with your brew, using sterilising powder in warm water.

Put 3 - 4 litres of warm water into your fermentation bucket, add the sterilising powder and pop in all of your ancillary equipment, such as the bubbler, the stirring spoon, jugs for filling and then wash your hands thoroughly.

Whilst waiting for the equipment to sterilise, remove the yeast packet from the lid or bottom of your brew kit and set aside, then place the brew kit in a bowl of piping hot water for 15 minutes to loosen the contents and make it easier to pour.

Leave the equipment to sterilise for around 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
